“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 19th June 2014

Happy Birthday Wayne O!
Thursday was my hubby’s 50th birthday, so I cancelled the evening class and had all the family around for a surprise party - he was very surprised, and is still mastering his new touch phone!
He realised when I was trying to tidy up after the afternoon class, and I was getting stressed, hence the Stampin’ Markers “Pick Up Stix”!

You see, the “Many Marvellous Markers” holds all 48 Stampin’ Markers, and they all have their very own spot/position in the case, and the whole lot fell over the table and on to the floor!
For Thursday’s class, we made a “Card In A Box”, and they turned out beautifully!
Bev made her using the “Watercolor Wonder” DSP and “Backyard Basics” stamp set and matching framelits …

Marion’s featured the “Watercolor Wonder” DSP and “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy punch, with a butterfly and bird or two from the “Backyard Basics” set …

The card base is Crumb Cake, and the accent colour is Calypso Coral and Island Indigo.
The “Backyard Basics” are stamped in StazOn Black, and hand coloured using the Aqua Painted and many different Ink Pads!
Marion stamped the flowers from the “Flower Shop” stamp set in Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango and Hello Honey.

I made up a sample before class …

And made an alternate version using the same DSP, but with the Island Indigo as the accent …

Amazing how the same pack of gorgeous “Watercolor Wonder” Designer Series Paper can make the card look so different in each of the cards made.
The Stampin’ Up! products featured {“Watercolor Wonder” DSP, “Backyard Basics” stamp set and matching framelits} are only available till 30 June, so get in quick and place your order!

It is nearly time for the new annual catalogue to be launched and you have LESS than a week to make the most of the offers and items on the retiring list!

Once Tuesday 1st July comes around, the items on the retiring list will no longer be available!
The current Summer/Autumn Occasionals catalogue also finishes on 30th June, limited items are carrying over to the new annual catalogue but most items are not so don’t wait until its too late!
My next order will be placed Thursday 26th June!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 12th June 2014

WOWsers we had fun on Thursday!
Both Classes were small, but we had maaaaaany laughs!

Bev made Pikelets and homemade Kiwifruit Jam for our afternoon tea, she is such a sweetie, and she also made a jar of Kiwifruit Jam for Jen, Kay and Marion, and oh Moi! AND it is divine – thanks Bev!
At the evening class we had a newbie, Audrey attend, and we finished not too late {compared with previous nights hint hint Bev and Jen!!!}, although we did eat most of the Chewy Caramel Tim Tams!
Our first project was inspired by a Scrapbook Layout by Jacque Williams, which she taught the previous weekend at our quarterly Scrapbook Class.
The second project, the ladies made 4 cards each, and got to mix and match their choice of colours, Hostess stamp sets {“Simply Sketched” and “Bloom With Hope”}, and techniques: Aqua Painters, Blendabilities and Blender Pens.
I was so impressed with their gorgeous work, that all the ladies artful work is featured below ..

By Audrey ...

By Bev ...

By Lizzy ...

Project 1 “Hexagons and Pennants”

Saying “Goodbye” to my fav Doily, the “Paper Doily Sizzlits L”, and ”Hello” to 2 of the new In Colours “Blackberry Bliss” and “Hello Honey”.
The card-base is Naturals White, with the colours of Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and neutrals Crumb Cake, Soft Suede featuring.
Have to say I love the new “Moonlight” Designer Series Paper Stack, and was pleasantly surprised by the colour and prints, and with 48 sheets in a pack, $14.50 is a very good price!

The sentiment for the 2 sample cards, are hand coloured using Stampin’ Write Markers in Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey, and feature the wording “I Freakin’ Love You” from the “Yippee-Skippee!” stamp set, and “You've Got Courage, You've Got Strength” from the “Something To Say” stamp set.

The “Word Bubble” framelits are used to cut the sentiment, but as I wanted the tail of the bubble to tilt in a different direction, I showed the ladies, how using the light and painters tape, how to reverse cut the Bubble.

The ladies also learnt how to make an xtra cute flower using Linen Thread.
As with all cards, each ladies card{s} turned out slightly different, which I always love to see, as just with the flip of a 2 sided cardstock, this can change the whole look of the project!

Project 2 “Mini Gift Cards”

The ladies got to make 4 cards each, with the finished size of the cards 3”x3”.
The card-bases were Crumb Cake cardstock, cut 6”x3”, with Naturals White cardstock, cut to 2 7/8”x2 7/8”.
I made up an array of cards ...

The ladies then got to mix and match their choice of colours, Hostess stamp sets {“Simply Sketched” and “Bloom With Hope”}, and techniques: Aqua Painters, Blendabilities and Blender Pens.
As you can see from the list below, we tried many colour combos!
The inside of the cards had either words stamped, or gorgeous images stamped and coloured ...

As a colour/technique comparison, I made up a card using the same stamp, and 3 different colouring combos …

Combo 1 is Memento Ink Pad + Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities

Combo 2 is Memento Ink Pad + Aqua Painters and Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Ink Colours {and Pool Party washed around edges} ...

Combo 3 is StazOn Black + Aqua Painters and Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Ink Colours ...

These cards are quick and easy to replicate, and making a small card for a friend can really lighten {and makin'} her day!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 5th June 2014

Thursday’s Class{es} were so much fun!
For the afternoon Class we had Bev, Kay, and Marion attend, and Kay made some yummy Chocolate Muffins with tiny Easter Eggs in the centre, + of course my Sour Worms!
For the evening Class, Lizzy and Jen attended, with Lizzy bringing along some divine fudge, + we had a packet of Chewy Caramel Tim Tams - of course!

Project 1: Wedding Card
Bev requested a Wedding Card, blue themed to match back with a wedding Invitation, as Bev and her hubby were attending a wedding that same weekend.

“Pacific Point “ was an exact colour match, with Naturals White as the card base.
We made a tri-fold card, with the front panel an inspiration that came from Pinterest which so far I have had 886 repins – so sorry I do not know who the original artist was!!!

The first version used Clear Embossing Powder on the front panel, the second card has White Embossing Powder, both feature the retiring “Very Vintage” Wheel.
Tulle in “Café a Lait” is placed over the entire front panel. Then cinched with Bakers Twine and a heart shaped wooden button.
Two birds in Pacific Point are punched using the Bird Builder punch, and Pearls added for the eyes, and 2 little hearts in Blushing Bride are punched using the Small Heart punch, and 2 more Pearls are added.
The second panel features the “You are Loved” stamp set {My Digital Studio}, the large floral heart stamped in Blushing Bride, and on a scrap piece of cardstock, in Pacific Point the word “Love” is stamped, then punched with the Decorative Label punch, another small heart is added and 5 Pearls in total are on this Panel.
In Pacific Point cardstock, and using the Artisan Label punch, a label is punched and hen adhered to the Panel, a hole is made using my trusty Crop-A-Dile, then Tulle is threaded through and knotted, THEN the whole Panel is adhered to the main card base.

{Panel 2}

The last panel has two versions, the first card has a beautifully coloured bird on the third panel , however this  has been changed to a flower {thanks Kay for this idea} on the second card, both of these stamps are from the “Simply Sketched” stamp set.

{Panel 3}

{Panel 3}

Two more little hearts are added with more Pearls, and finally the words “for the new Mr. & Mrs.” Are stamped in pacific point, these words are from the “Petite Pairs” stamp set.
Wah-lah … Wedding Card done!

Project 2: “Masculine Nautical Card”
The second project also has two versions.

The card base is Naturals White which has been stamped on both sides of the cardstock with the “World Map” stamp set in Sahara Sand.

The “Festival Of Prints” {My Digital Studio} cardstock feature, with the accent colours of Island Indigo and Chocolate Chip cardstock.
Stamp set used through out this card are “Just Sayin’”, “The Open Sea”, “Wetlands”, and the “World Map”.
And Dies used are “Label Card Thinlits” {used to make the flip}, “Word Bubbles” and “Finishing Touches” Edgelits.

Punches used are “Banner”, “Extra Large Oval” and the “Postage Stamp”.
The inside Panel is Vellum, which has been cut to shape using the Label Card Thinlits, then stamped in Island Indigo with the birds from the “Wetlands” stamp set. Little banner flags have been adhered to the top, using the Banner punch, and scraps of cardstock.

The finishing touches are on the side panel, which has an Antique Brad through the Compass, Dazzling Diamonds on the birds feet, and the Anchor
which has been Dimensionaled.

Wah-lah … Masculine Nautical Card done!
