Commission: Horse Themed Card

I had the great honour in making a birthday card today, for a friend’s friend … does that make sense?!!!

The brief was that Lynley loved her horses named Harry and Scotty, and I was given these photos to work from ...

Harry

Harry

Scotty

I decided to use the photos of Harry and Scotty jumping, and create them as “Wall Hangings” or pictures on the inside of the card.
The beautiful headshot of Harry is on the front of the card.
My girl-friend Linda was rapt with the card, and I am really pleased as to how it turned out ...

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 13th March 2014

At Thursday’s “Create With Kathe” craft class, we had a new crafter attend, the lovely Bev.
It was like meeting a kindred spirit, and Bev was such a lovely lady, it felt like I had known her for ages!

We made three projects, all featuring the {FREE with qualifying purchase} Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper “Sweet Sorbet” …
First up was a decorated Mini Milk Bottle, with the “Spiral Flower Originals” Die and Petite Petals Punch, then an Envelope Pocket Wallet, that had four mini envelope pockets, to house such gorgeous things as gift vouchers, money, invitations, r.s.v.p. cards etc, and a cute card, featuring the “Springtime Hello” stamp set.

Decorated Mini Milk Bottle

With the Mimi Milk Bottle {purchased at The Warehouse for $2 each}, we got into a bit of difficulty with the glue gun not working properly, luckily I had a second GG on hand!!!
We cut 2 flowers from the ”Sweet Sorbet” DSP, using the “Spiral Flower Originals” then rolled up together and secured with some hot glue. Added to the centre was a cute little Petite Petals flower in contrasting cardstock and a Pearl to finish it off.
Artichoke Denim Jean Ribbon is tied in a bow around the bottle and secured with some hot glue, below that is a strip of cardstock with the fancy edging, cut with the “Finishing Touches Edgelits”.
The Spiral flower is hot glued just above the bow, and 2 “Flower Trim” flowers are hot clued in place on either side, and wah-lah, Mini milk Bottle is done!

Envelope Pocket Wallet {case'd via Sally Rice}

Cut 4 squares 6”x6” and make in to envelopes using the Stampin’ Envelope Punch Board.
Cut a strip 4 ¼’x 3.5” from the backing board that comes when you purchase Designer Series Paper, as this packaging cardboard that come fee in the packs, and is thicker and sturdier.
On the 3 ½ “ side, score at every ½ “, then fold to make a concertina file.
Use your Orange Sticky Tape, as this is very strong; to first adhere your outside envelope, then the other other envelopes in the valleys of the concertina, but facing towards the first envelope.
Tie some ribbon around the outside to help keep the envelopes all closed.
This is a really quick and easy project, and realistically can be made with just 1 sheet of DSP, as you get 4 squares/envelopes for each sheet of DSP.

“Springtime Hello” Card

Using Natural White Cardstock, emboss 2/3 with the Sale-A-Bration “Decorative Dots” embossing folder.
Make a banner, with the Banner punch, and stamp on to two of the banners in “Sahara Sand” with the Bee from the “Springtime Hello” stamp set.
Adhere to the top left of card with Dimensionals, and add a knotted Linen Thread to form the banner.
Stamped above the banner are the words “Hello Spring”, also in Sahara Sand,¸and add a contrasting Candy Dot to finish.
On a scrap of Naturals White Cardstock, stamp the long stemmed flowers in Sahara Sand, then fussy-cut around outside, adhere to a contrasting scrap of DSP, and mount on Dimensionals.
Punch a flower from the Petite Petal punch in contrasting DSP, and add a Pearl to the centre.
On the inside of the card, in Sahara Sand stamp the Thistle from the “Springtime Hello” stamp set.

Simply Sketched Thank You Card

Guess what?!!!
YES, the Courier did a Saturday delivery for me, and waiting inside the rather large box, was the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! Circle Card Thinlits Dies!!!
This is my first project using the new Circle Card Thinlits Dies, a “Thank You” card which I was asked to make for lady at our “Women Connecting” Craft Group.
Also in the box were a couple of new stamp sets “Yippee-Skippee!” and “Simply Sketched” … ahhhhh bliss!
On the flipping scallop, on one side I stamped in Staz On Black the gorgeous flower from the “Simply Sketched” stamp set, then used the Crisp Cantaloupe Ink Pad and Aqua Painters, + then blended with Calypso Coral Stampin’ Marker to give the flower graduating shades of colour.
The stem of the flower is coloured in Old Olive + the Aqua Painters to blend.
Around the outside of the flower, to illuminate it, I used a wash of colour from the Baja Breeze stamp pad, with the Aqua Painters.
On the other side of the flip, I stamped the words “Awesome … thanks!” using a masking technique. I covered the words “Awesome …” with a Post-It note, then stamped with Staz On Black (onto the word “Thanks!”), then used the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Marker to colour in the word “Awesome …”.
I really wanted to add a star with Glimmer cardstock, but had run out, so improvised by painting some of my glittery nail polish on to white cardstock, then once dry, cut the star from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies, and attached with dimensionals.
I used one of the small Framelits from the “Chalk Talk” set to attach the 4 strands of Organdy Ribbon in “Calypso Coral”, and tied in a bow.
The butterfly is made with the Butterfly Embosslits, in layers of Crisp Cantaloupe, "Beau Chateau" DSP and Vellum. I then stranded together some Organdy Ribbon in “Calypso Coral” to create the butterfly antlers.
The Beau Chateau DSP on the extended flap is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.
