A New Year = A Card Off With Jen …

A New Year = A Card Off With Jen …

On Wednesday night, Jen and I decided to play with some of the new products from the Stampin’ Up! OccasionsCatty.

As soon as Jen saw the new Catty, she instantly fell in love with pages 26-27, which have the “BotanicalBlooms" stamp set, and matching “Botanical Builder” Framelits, and the “BotanicalGardens“ Designer Series Paper, which are available to be purchased separately, or as a Bundle for $105.75

When Jen arrived at my "Create With Kathe" Craft Class {she arrived just in time for the last project}, I gave her {cause she’s my bestie and I love her to bits} the “Flowering Fields” Sale-A-Bration stamp set, and the “Botanical Gardens“ Designer Series Paper.

Why the DSP? … because I detest the colours featured which are Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Mint Macaroon, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Whisper White.
For some reason, the “Regals”, or deep colours just don’t do it for me, I tend to favour the “Subtles”!
So ... Jen’s mission on Wednesday was to change my mind about the DSP …
For a change, we decided our “Card Off” Challenge was going to be a collaboration, usually on past “Card Off” Challenges, we have a theme, have free range of the “Kathe's Cave Craft Room”, and make some amazing projects!
To see past “Card Off” Challenges, please click the "Card Off" Label to the right.
On this occasion, I was in charge of construction of the “Card In A Box”, and adhering panels of DSP, colours directed by Jen.

Jen’s involvement was making ALL the gorgeous flowers, adhering and titivating all the foliage.
Our joint effort was awesome, and I have to give full credit to Jen, as she did an amazing job with all the beautiful and colourful flowers.

New Year = A Card Off With Jen … DONE!

At the end of the day {or should we say night, as we finished at 12am}, and 3 hours later, Jen went home with her new stamp set and the “Botanical Gardens“ Designer Series Paper, and I think she was really chuffed!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 19th June 2014

Happy Birthday Wayne O!
Thursday was my hubby’s 50th birthday, so I cancelled the evening class and had all the family around for a surprise party - he was very surprised, and is still mastering his new touch phone!
He realised when I was trying to tidy up after the afternoon class, and I was getting stressed, hence the Stampin’ Markers “Pick Up Stix”!

You see, the “Many Marvellous Markers” holds all 48 Stampin’ Markers, and they all have their very own spot/position in the case, and the whole lot fell over the table and on to the floor!
For Thursday’s class, we made a “Card In A Box”, and they turned out beautifully!
Bev made her using the “Watercolor Wonder” DSP and “Backyard Basics” stamp set and matching framelits …

Marion’s featured the “Watercolor Wonder” DSP and “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy punch, with a butterfly and bird or two from the “Backyard Basics” set …

The card base is Crumb Cake, and the accent colour is Calypso Coral and Island Indigo.
The “Backyard Basics” are stamped in StazOn Black, and hand coloured using the Aqua Painted and many different Ink Pads!
Marion stamped the flowers from the “Flower Shop” stamp set in Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango and Hello Honey.

I made up a sample before class …

And made an alternate version using the same DSP, but with the Island Indigo as the accent …

Amazing how the same pack of gorgeous “Watercolor Wonder” Designer Series Paper can make the card look so different in each of the cards made.
The Stampin’ Up! products featured {“Watercolor Wonder” DSP, “Backyard Basics” stamp set and matching framelits} are only available till 30 June, so get in quick and place your order!

It is nearly time for the new annual catalogue to be launched and you have LESS than a week to make the most of the offers and items on the retiring list!

Once Tuesday 1st July comes around, the items on the retiring list will no longer be available!
The current Summer/Autumn Occasionals catalogue also finishes on 30th June, limited items are carrying over to the new annual catalogue but most items are not so don’t wait until its too late!
My next order will be placed Thursday 26th June!

Guest Blogger Jen with Card In A Box – Nautical Style

Oooops she did it again!
Jen has hit the ball right out of the park with this gorgeous “Card In A Box Nautical Style”.

Jen has sourced the internet and the world to assemble some light house stamps, and this one is a vintage Stampin’ Up! stamp set called “Lighthouse”.
Jen has also featured my new stamp sets “By The Tide” and “By The Seashore”.

Jen’s specialty is her colouring, and she had used a mix of Stampin’ Up Ink Pads with the Aqua Painters, along with her pack of 48 Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils.

I love the way the sea and sky swirls, which is from the Memory Box Dies “Elegant Scrollwork”.
The Elegant Scrollwork Die was so intricate that Jen used Baking Paper between the die and the cardstock, and Jen also fell in love with my Big Shot Magnetic Platform, cha ching!

The card looks amazeballs flat and ready for postage too ...

Wah-lah gorgeous “Card In A Box Nautical Style” done, but I bet you Jen has another version in mind for our next “Card Off” challenge!

Guest Blogger: Jen With Card In A Box “Backyard Basics” Style

This hybrid card by Jen Hassloch is so amazeballs that it deserved it's own post!!!

Jen has now completed her hybrid project of a Card In A Box “Backyard Basics” style, and it is now ready to be shown to the World!

Last night, well early this morning {we finished AGAIN at 1.30am!!!); Jen and I had another card off!

Jen got busy stamping her images from the “Backyard Basics” and “Petite Petals” stamp sets in Black StazOn, then using the Blender Pens to add colour from every colour in my Stampin’ Up! Ink Pad stash, we are talking the Brights, Subtles and 2013-2015 In Colours!!!

Jen used the “Petite Petals” Punch and “Backyard Basics” framelits to cut out her gorgeous images.

The beautiful stamp that says “I think you are amazing just wanna let you know” is from the “Lovely Romance” stamp set has been coloured with Stampin’ Makers, and then cut out using the Big Shot and the “Chalk Talk” framelits

The different flaps on the box, which when folded up, closes the box.

On the reverse of the card, there is room to write s secret message or two!

Folded flat, the card fits in a standard C6 envelope. A nifty trick, that only folding the sides down on 2 of the flaps, when the {lucky} recipient opens the envelope, they are surprised by all the colours and dimensions on this gorgeous card…

Recipe Ingredient List
Stamp Sets: “Backyard Basics”, “Lovely Romance” and “Petite Petals”
Ink: Black StazOn, Ink Pads from the Brights and Subtles Collections, and 2013-2015 In Colours, + Old Olive, Pacific Point and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Markers

Card Off With Jen, Card In A Box and Fancy Fold Card

When is comes to craftin', you can never have too much happy!

Last night, well early this morning {we finished at 1.30am!!!); Jen and I had a card off!
Our first project was a “Card In A Box”, with Jen’s creation to be shown as soon as my Stampin’ Up! order arrives.
You see, Jen purchased the “Backyard Basics” Bundle set {shhh shhh – hush hush!!!}, which consists of the Backyard Basics stamp set and matching framelits.
Jen made the box of her card, but wants to use this stamp set to compete it.
On the other hand, my card In a Box is ready to be shown!

Card In A Box by Kathe Oldham

I used the gorgeous “Tea For Two” Designer Series Paper, available on My Digital Studio download, and also in the Clearance Rack at the moment for only NZ$4.69

I also used the gorgeous “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy Punch. “Papillion Potpourri” stamp set and matching Butterfly Punch.

I stamped the 6 butterflies in Black StazOn Ink + used Blender Pens in to colour and blend the beautiful wings of the butterflies in Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Strawberry Slushy.

The sentiment on the back of the card is coloured with “Old Olive” and “Melon Mambo” Stampin’ Markers, and stamped from the “Yippee-Skippee!” stamp set.

I punched the leaves from the Bird Builder Punch, and hand drew the veins of the leaves on with the Old Olive Stampin’ Maker.

Black and White Fancy Fold Card by Jen Hassloch

Whilst I completed my Card In A Box, Jen created this gorgeous card using a hybrid of products.

Jen truly masters the art of thinking outside the box {no pun intended!!!}.

Jen stamped on coloured cardstock with Versamark, and heat-set Black Embossing Powder, and then added a multiple of colours using the Blender Pens, to create dimensionalised flowers that popped from her black and white fancy fold card.

Jen used the gorgeous “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy Punch, + the “Mixed Bunch” stamp set and the Blossom Punch AND the Chevron Border Punch.

The special sentiment on the inside of the card that says “You can never have too much happy” is from the “Yippee-Skippee!” stamp set, and is coloured with “Old Olive” and “Melon Mambo” Stampin’ Markers.

This gorgeous card is case’d from an idea by Julie Davsion, as shared by Sally at a recent Crafty Wenches get-together.
