Women Connecting: Monday 21st March 2016

I was so delighted to be asked to teach again this Term at “Women Connecting”, at Church Of Christ - Richmond.
Women Connecting meets every 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of the month.
The cost is worked out based on the products used, my Class cost $5, the Class before was $12, and at that Class, we made a fantastic wooden Hoodall, which I will blog about soon!

On Monday night {21st March}, we made a beautiful Shabby Chic birthday card, with a Bookmark attached, and matching envelope.

It was really great to teach the ladies new techniques, such as faux stitching, rolling the corner of the cardstock {and ensuring the faux stitching and stamping showing on the reverse of the roll}, ribbon pleating, and many other yummy techniques!
I also demonstrated the ease of using the Stampin’ Trimmer, the Trimmer Rotary Addition {and Perforating Blade - retired} and Simply Scored Board.
There was allot of stamping on this project, to make it look really vintage, and we used the “Timeless Textures” stamp set, which is my favourite stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue, and also featured the “Birthday Blooms” stamp set.
Here's a sneak peak at alllllllll the ingredients used to make this gorgeous card, and yes, there were 22 Pearls featured!!!

I made up 40 Kits, and there were 33 ladies there on the night.
Although there was allot of preparation, on the night, the night flew by!

Can’t wait for the next “Women Connecting” meeting, Monday 4th April.

"Card Off Challenge": With Jen On Thursday 18.02.2016

So excited that Jen and I had time for anther “Card Off Challenge”.
The card I had created was featured in my “Create With Kathe” Class week.
So as I taught my Class, Jen tweaked the card, but still used the same base of Stampin’ Up! products.
I always love to see the outcome of Jen’s tweaking, as she is a master of colour!
As you can see from the two cards, the original was Portrait, and Jen’s switched hers up to Landscape
The stamp sets featured are “Birthday Blooms” and “Timeless Elegance”, these two are my absolute favourites from the new Occasions Catalogue.
The pretty flower on the original card was is soft tones of Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Mint Macaroon and Pear Pizzazz.
Jen’s flower was in deepening colours, perhaps with a touch of Rich Razzleberry, and she coloured the background of the flower, by adding a wash of Tempting Turquoise.
Both cards have faux stitching, created using the “Updated Essentials” Paper Piercing Pack, and the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.
If you look super close at the “Sahara Sand” layer, you will also find heaps of stamping using the “Timeless Textures” stamp set and Soft Suede and Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pads.
Jen’s card was framed in Blackberry Bliss and a cute sparkly embellishment added to the top right-hand corner, and some gorgeous pleated ruffled ribbon {Venetian Crochet Trim and Seam Binding}.
I always love a touch of shabby chic, so in my card I added a Doily, fabric rose, ruffled ribbon {Venetian Crochet Trim and Seam Binding}, and a beautiful Brad, from the “Antique Brads” collection.
At the end of the day {or night as it had become}, it was a draw!!!

Happy New Year! I Finally Got My Craft On ...

Happy New Year!
I finally got my craft on yesterday afternoon, and whipped up this little number …

It was for my bestie Megan’s Birthday, and what a birthday she had!!!
Meges had lunch out with her 3 daughters, and then in the evening, a whole bunch of us went out to dinner to celebrate!
We had dinner at “Poppy Thai” in Richmond, and there were approximately 12 of us dolls that were able to make it, AND I was the only blonde {except for Anna}!
We must have made a bit of noise because we had so much fun.
You know me, I am a foodie, but forgot to take a photo of my Starter, which was “Poh Pieh Puck”, eight vegetarian spring rolls with vermicelli and vegetables, served with sweet sauce.
For my Main, I had “Pad Priew Wan” Poppy Thais’ sweet and sour sauce home made to perfection then stir fried with fresh seasonal vegetables with Chicken ...

And of course I had to have Dessert, which was “Chocolate Lava Cake”, served with Ice Cream, Strawberries and a Passionfruit Coulis … oh yum!!! ...

Now back to the gorgeous card…

I have been wanting to try out my new set of Dies, the “Sizzix Gatefold with Jar Pop-Up”, and this was the perfect occasion.

I also got to try out some of my new stamps sets from the new Occasions Catty,  ”Birthday Blooms”, “Grateful Bunch”, and “Timeless Textures”.
The "Timeless Textures" stamp set is great for layering images, here I stamped firstly in Sahara Sand, then overlaid the next stamp in Tip Top Taupe ...

I added a belly band to the card, as it sat better with it.   As you can imagine, the card was very full in textures with all those flowers!

I also added a Tag, so Megan can also use this as a Bookmark later on!

All in all, I was very pleased with the way this card turned out.
And of course the pressie was wrapped in re-purposed Stampin’ Up! packing paper, with a belly band that has been embossed, and some colour co-ordinated butterflies with my signature Pearls added!

Hmmmm … what shall I make tomorrow?!!!
The “Sky Is The Limit”!!!

Sending paperhugs your way,
Kathe.
