“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 20th March 2014

Well Thursday’s class seems so long ago now…
Since then I have attended a Scrapbook Layout Class with Jacque form Auckland, this was all day Saturday 9.30am till 5pm, and I was completely shattered afterwards.
Yesterday (Sunday) I was in so much pain, I could hardly move.
Tonight {Monday 31st March} I taught at Women Connecting my Noah’s Ark Double Slider card, which I will post about tomorrow.
Tonight was also the cut off date for the Stampin’ U! Sale-A-Bration promotion, I placed an order, and 5 minutes later, someone else sent an order in via email – grrrrrr!!!
I did quite well though, what with my own order, the Hostess Reward and the Sale- A-Bration rewards, this order, I received $541.20 worth of products, and the difference to pay for this order was $81.47 … not bad eh?!!!
Gotta say, I ♥ Stampin’ Up!

For Thursday’s class, we made an Easter Bunny "Punch Art" Easter Egg Box, and a Gift Card Holder …

Easter Bunny "Punch Art" Easter Egg Box

I adapted the pattern for the Card In A Box, and used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch for the closure.

The cardstock was “Naturals White” and stamped with the “Hardwood” stamp, using a masking technique, as the top of the box is stamped randomly with the “Petal Parade” {Sale-A-Bration} stamp set.

The Fringe Scissors are used to create the grass, and the Banner punch to create the Swag.

For the first box, we stamped banners from the “Banner Blast” stamp set on to Naturals White, and then punched out with the Banner Punch.

On the second box, we used the “Sweet Sorbet” DSP to create the cute swag.
The stamp set “Perfect Pennants” and matching Banner Framelits are used to create the sign the bunny is holding.

The Bunny is created using a number of Punches; Petite Petals, Boho Blossoms, Large Oval, Extra-Large Oval, Small Heart, Owl Builder, Circle Framelits

This bunny is so cute, I just wanted to squeeze his cheeks!

Gift Card Holder

I made these with the class back at Christmas time, but after seeing the gorgeous card that Jen made using the “Perfect Blend” stamp set, I just had to use it too!

Made with the Envelope Punch Board {$38.95}, these are a breeze to make, and so quick and easy.
The coffee cup and wording are stamped with Black StazOn ink, then coloured using Blender Pens.

The “Gorgeous Grunge” stamp set is liberally stamped in “Soft Suede” to create a spilt coffee effect.
For the inside of the card, I wasn't fussed on the underside of the DSP, so cut a strip of the gorgeous floral paper from the same pack, and stuck it to the flap that holds the gift card.

One would never know that I had altered the cardstock!!!
Instead of Washi Tape, I have used strips of DSP around the base of the card and tied with contrasting Organdy ribbon.

The sentiment “Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful” is from the “Perfect Pennants” stamp set, had hand-coloured using Stampin’ Markers.
A Candy Dot is placed on the corner flap of the gift card holder to “anchor” the project.

I am secretly pleased as to how these two projects turned out!

”Watercolour Wonder” Gift Voucher and Matching Card …

My Digital Studio Gift Voucher and Matching Card …

Soooo exciting … got my first lead through the Stampin’ Up! “DBWS” Demonstrator Business Web Services …
A lovely lady called and requested a gift voucher for her Mom’s birthday, so I attempted to create a {not to shabby I might add!!!} gift voucher using the My Digital Studio software.

I downloaded the DSP (Designer Series Paper)”Watercolour Wonder”, and used this as a base for the gift voucher, and also printed a sheet onto Naturals White to use in the matching card.

I used the Circle Card Framelits, and cut the cardstock flowers side down, I added an xtra length to the cardstock to create the flap in front.

My new stamp “Hardwood” has just arrived and I have used it in two projects today, I think it has now become my favourite!
Stamped in “Basic Gray” on the inside of the card, and when the Vellum was layered over top, it created a lovely muted tone.

I purchased Soda Pop Tops {or recycle beer bottle tops} from my local supermarket, you can get around 100 for NZ$5.
Flatten in the Big Shot, and remove seal.
Punch a 1" 2.5cm circle from the printed ”Watercolour Wonder” on Naturals White cardstock.
Use the “Crystal Effects” to adhere to the Soda Pop Top, and then fill in the Soda Pop Top with more Crystal Effects and leave to dry for 12 hours.
You will be left with a really glossy effect, and this technique would be perfect for making a Sun.

I ♥ the “Rock and Roll” technique, and used it on the flowers, with my “Mixed Bunch” stamp set …
1) Ink stamp on light-coloured ink pad {I used Daffodil Delight}.
2) Press edges of stamp in rolling motion on darker ink pad {Tangerine Tango}, being careful not to ink the centre of stamp.
Tip:
Always use the lightest coloured ink first to avoid getting dark ink on your light ink pad.

To make the Vellum really pop, whilst ink is still wet (I used my “Daffodil Delight” Stampin’ Pad}, sprinkle with embossing powder {“Iridescent Ice”}, and heat set with Heat Tool.
Wah-lah, you can now make any coloured embossing powder!

I hope Laura and her Mom are really pleased with the gift voucher and matching card!

Paris Themed Card, Book and Key-Ring

Recently I tried my first Modge Podge project,  a Paris themed book, but it is actually a hidden box!
I also made a gorgeous card and matching Key-Ring with flattened Soda Pop Tops.

Paris Themed Card …
I had fun incorporating the new “Follow My Heart” and SAB “Banner Blast” stamp sets, and the matching Banner Punch with this card.
I used the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin’ Pad on the embossed Pretty Print Textured Impressions to make the card pop.
For the inside of the card I stamped the image twice with Real Red ink, onto a separate sheet of Naturals White Cardstock .
The Chalk Talk Framelits {+ Big Shot} were used to cut the image, I then cut out the word “SOMETHING” out of the second image with my Paper Snips, which was layered with Dimensionals on to Basic Gray cardstock.
I then cut around the edges {of the Basic Grey cardstock}, leaving a slight margin, then layered with Dimensionals on to the first image.
The final layered image was then adhered to the card with my favourite double sided tape – phew!
Although this card was made for my best friend as a birthday card/gift, it could also be used as a sweet Valentine's Card.

Paris Themed Book …
I started by purchasing a wooden box with hinges for $10.50, and transforming it into this cute Paris themed book/box, which I have seen similar for sale at The Mall for $30+!!!
I used 3Ply Serviettes and separated the layers, using just the top patterned layer.
With one thin layer of Modge Podge on the wooden box, I layered the Paris themed serviette on top and smoothed it down. I left to try for 8 hours, and then added a second coat of Midge Podge, and left overnight to dry.
I finished the inside of the box with the gorgeous “Tea For Two” Designer Series Paper, currently on Clearance Rack for $4.69, and grey Ribbon.

Paris Themed Key-Rings …
I flattened the Soda Pop Tops using my Big Shot, with the No. 2 Platform removed.
For the Key-Rings, I used my 1” 2.5cm Circle Punch to punch a couple of the images from the serviettes.
I used Modge Podge to adhere the very fine and flimsy serviette circle to the flattened Soda Pop Top and left to dry.
I then used “Crystal Effects” and a sprinkling of Dazzling Diamonds, and left to dry overnight.
My trusty Crop-A-Dile was used to punch a hole and then I slid a split ring through the Soda Pop Tops to make the Key-Ring.

"Happy Birthday Megan!"
