Bereavement/Illness Card: "Lotus Blossom". “A Dozen Thoughts” and “Flowering Flourishes”

Recently at one of my “Create With Kathe” Craft Classes, we made this elegant bereavement/illness card featuring my favourite stamp sets “Lotus Blossom”.

The class was a Technique Class, as my ladies asked for a refresher on how to stamp the gorgeous ”Lotus Blossom” stamp set.

The colours featured are Soft Saffron, Hello Honey, and Gold Embossing Powder.

Amazing how just changing the Ribbon and the Brad, it can make the flower looks so different.

TIP: when using an intricate die, such as CanadianCollection – Border Corner and Tag, it is best used with an adhesive panel, such as “SilhouetteDouble-Sided Adhesive Sheets

The sentiment ”You’re In my Thoughts” is from the stamp set “A Dozen Thoughts”, and is heat embossed in Gold.

Also heat embossed in Gold is the swirl from the “Flowering Flourishes” stamp set.

I kept the insert clean and elegant, that way the ladies could choose for themselves the sentiment they wishes to use.

Kathe.

Striped Scallop Thinlits Die: “Garden In Bloom” and “Best Thoughts”

Recently at one of my “Create With Kathe” Craft Classes, we made this cute card featuring the gorgeous stamp sets “Garden In Bloom” and “Best Thoughts” ...

TIP: The Striped Scallop Thinlits Die is best used with an adhesive panel, such as “Silhouette Double-Sided AdhesiveSheets

The cardbase colour is Watermelon Wonder, which contrasts nicely with the Basic Black Neutrals Colour Collection Designer Series Paper Pack.

And who doesn’t love a bit of Silver Glimmer Paper?

The punched flower is in Watermelon Wonder and Basic Black cardstock, which has been punched with the “Fun Flower” Punch, and the contrasting centre of the flower is Silver Glimmer Paper, punched with the 7/8” Scallop Circle Punch.

The sentiment ”You’re On My Thoughts is from the Hostess Stamp Set “Best Thoughts”, and is heat embossed in Silver, to match back with the Silver Glimmer
Paper.
And the sentiment o n the card insert "Friends are kind to each others hopes & cherish each others dreams." is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, and is from the "Garden In Bloom" stamp set.

Circle Card Thinlits: “Garden In Bloom” and “Gift From The Garden”

Recently at one of my “Create With Kathe” Craft Classes, we made this cute card featuring the Circle Card Thinlits and the gorgeous stamp sets “Garden In Bloom” and “Gift From The Garden”.

I love stamping tone on tone, and in this case featured Tip Top Taupe Cardstock, which is stamped with Tip Top Taupe ink, and the Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder contrasts nicely as the second step, with the “Garden In Bloom” stamp set.

The sentiment “Friends are kind to each others hopes & cherish each others dreams.” is also heat embossed in Gold.

The cute little white resin flower I purchased through AliExpress.

Kathe.

Spinning Butterfly Card

Recently at one of my “Create With Kathe” Craft Classes, we made this gorgeous Spinning Butterfly Card ...

The secret is to use fishing line to make the card spin!

This card was caes’d and inspired by a beautiful butterfly card that my friend Sally taught recently.

As SU {at the time of making this card – but look out for the butterflies in the Occasional 2016 Catty!!!} the butterfly from the “Papillion Potpourri” stamp set was not defined enough, I substituted with KasiserCraft stamps; “Bonjour”, “Windsor” and “Perfume”.

“Women Connecting”: Desk Calendar With Notebook

I was super excited to be a guest teacher at “Women Connecting” recently, and on Monday 2nd November I taught this “Desk Calendar with Notebook" ...

As mini calendars are scarce and hard to come by in New Zealand, I ended up purchasing them from Scrap2Relax in Australia.
Scrap2Relax also had the Embossing Powders I was looking for, in Rust and Copper to use on the end of leaves.
The AED Fine Detail Embossing Powder colours I ordered were called Bronze Rose, Copper and Copper Lane.
I was really rapt with the service, and the ladies even popped in my parcel some “Gorjuss” Buttons … yah!

Whenever I teach a large group of women, I always make up a number of samples. It is always hard when there are 20+ ladies looking at one sample!

I made up five samples, and used the five different brads from the Antique Brads {I am always looking at showcasing product of and up-selling at the same moment!!!}.

I purchased the colourful Notebooks in bulk {I purchased 54 Notebooks} through The Warehouse, and they worked out to be $1 each.

On one of the samples I took a 3B1 school notebook and covered with Melon Mambo cardstock, placed some butterfly Washi Tape on a strip of Basic Black cardstock, and then crimped it with my new Fiskars Paper Crimper.

I show-cased this notebook, as I wanted to show the ladies how they could take a 3B1 notebook and transform it into something beautiful.

The best time to purchases the 3B1 Notebooks is at Back To School, which is January/February when you can pick them up of 5c instead of 99c.

I had a fab helper, helping me prepare the Kits, my daughter JorjaRose stepped up {pun intended as I am STILL recovering from the sprained ankle or “Cankle” as we have been calling it!!!}.
We prepared 50 Kits, so there were spare Kits available to purchase on the night.

On the BIG night, I packed my car really well, as I like to be very prepared, so everything goes smoothly.
I took along all 3 of my Sizzix Big Shots, which I have named Betsy The Beast, Nancy Drew {after my grandmother}, and Topaz {which is my birthstone}.
I also had 3 “Top Note” Dies to use on the night, as the ladies needed to cut 1 in Basic Black and 1 in Whisper White.
With the Whisper White Top Note, the ladies fussy-cut off the stitched line. Then they stamped with Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo inks, the 2-step flower from the “Garden In Bloom” stamp set.
The braded flower is Melon Mambo cardstock and punched with the “Fun Flower”, “Pansy” and “Petite Petals” Punches.
The butterflies are from the “Papillion Potpourri” stamp set, stamped in Melon Mambo ink, and punched with the “Bitty Butterfly” Punch.
The leaves are Pear Pizzazz cardtstock, and punched with the Bird Builder Punch, which to streamline things, I had 2 Punches available.

All in all the evening went off without a hitch, and I can’t wait till my next night, guest teaching this amazing group of women.

With the leftover Kits, I taught the “Desk Calendar with Notebook" at my “Create With Kathe" Craft Classes, which run on Tuesdays , Wednesdays and Thursdays.

One of my ladies wished to make as smaller version, so we used a 3M Post it Note 354, and covered it in the same way as 3B1 notebooks …

Oh and by the way …

Check out my new holder for my Cane "mac", hooked onto my Big Shot #3 "Topaz"!
Dusty had to get in on the action ... of course!

Sally and Kathe’s Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catty Launch

Recently {back on Sunday 30th August} Sally and I hosted our second Stampin’ Up! event together, this one was to celebrate the launch of the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue.
We had 30 ladies attend, and of course we had to have Prize Patrol again!
And here's our Prize Patrol goodies ...

We had 39 Prize Patrol gifts, some of which were kindly donated – thank you ladies, you know how much we love and appreciate you.

Sally and I taught a project each, plus the ladies all made a Christmas Tag, from the “Oh, What Fun Tag Project Kit”.

In preparation for the big day, Jen and I had made a number of Christmas Cards {we crafted till 3am without a break!!!}, some were case’d from the Catty, some were our own designs.

Sally also made some beautiful samples, and featured the stamp set “Thankful Forest Friends” and the Bundle “Jingle All The Way” ...

Between the two of us, we had a large display of Christmas projects, along with the new SU products from the new Catty {please don’t look at my MasterCard bill!!!} ...

Sally made a number of 3D projects, which were gifts at each of the place settings.
Here are some of the tables ...

And here are some the gorgeous 3D gifts that Sally made ...

Our afternoon kicked off at 2pm, and we planed to finish around 4pm.
After a brief introduction about the new Catty, Sally and I mentioned our favourite products from the Catty, mine was the “Curvy Corner Trio” Punch, and Sally’s was the “Thankful Forest Friends” stamp set.
We then split the room in half, and both taught our Christmas Cards.

Sally and I had made a gorgeous afternoon tea, Sally made some Cupcake Toppers, featuring the “Thankful Forest Friends” stamp set, and I made my now {in}famous Cheese Ball, which proved to be my undoing later in the day*.
After the yummy afternoon tea, we then swapped, and taught the other half of the room. In the downtime, between projects, the ladies made the Christmas Tag.

Sally Christmas Card was GorJuss!!!

Sally’s card featured the “Jingle All The Way” Bundle
#140862 Clear Mount $62.95 or #140861 Wood Mount $71.25.

The Bundle consists of the “Jingle All The way” stamp set and “Sleigh Ride” Edgelits, and if purchasing as a set, you save 15%.
The card-base is Blackberry Bliss, and Whisper White cardstock was sponged with Tempting Turquoise, Night of Navy and Blackberry Bliss inks.
Water was then flicked onto the cardstock, which gave a gorgeous effect.
All  3 “Sleigh Ride” Edgelits were cut in Whisper White cardstock, and 2 Way Glue Pen was used to adhere the line of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.
The sentiment “Merry Everything” and “Jingle All The Way” are stamped in Blackberry Bliss.
This card is a very elegant Christmas Card, and the ladies loved making it, even if their fingertips got a tad inky!
If making this card in bulk I would recommend wearing some silicon/latex gloves.

My Christmas Card features the “Peaceful Pines” Bundle
#140850 Photopolymer $92.50

The card-Base is Soft Sky, and the insert Whisper White.
“Watercolor Wash” in Soft Sky, is stamped on 2/3 of the Vellum, on the reverse side.
Stars from the “Wonderland” stamp set are stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in Gold.
The Vellum is then sewn {with my real Bernina Sewing Machine!} onto a layer of Whisper White cardstock.
The trees are a mixture of Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive cardstock, and are stamped with Old Olive and Marina Mist inks.
The “Peace” is cut from Gold Foil Sheets and features the “Christmas Greetings” Thinlits.
The star is cut from Gold Glimmer Paper, and is from the “Perfect Pines” Framelits.
Gold Cord is threaded through one of the wooden “Snowflake Elements”.
On the card insert, my favourite new product, the “Curvy Corner Trio” Punch is used on the lower corner.
The sentiment “Wishing a season of wonderful moments and warm memories“ is from the “Peaceful Pines” stamp set, and embossed in gold.
The star is cut from Gold Foil Sheets, and is from the “Perfect Pines” Framelits.
The tree is stamped in Marina Mist, and is from the “Peaceful Pines” stamp set.
Stars from the “Wonderland” stamp set are stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed in Gold.
Wah-lah … Perfect Peaceful Pines Card done!

We had a fantastic afternoon, surrounded by all our crafting girlfriends.
The ladies all went home buzzing with the new techniques they had learnt, their two Christmas Cards, a Christmas Tag and Prize Patrol gift{s} + a full belly!!!
AND we can’t wait to do it all over again, with the new Stampin’ Up! Catty, and Sale-A-Bration brochures, which are due for release 6th January 2016.

*At the 4pm mark {I Iooked at my watch so I knew the time!}, I {stupidly} decided to help myself to more of the Cheese Ball and Crackers, and on my return back to the table, and in front of everyone, I BADLY sprained my left ankle, fell to the floor and hit my head!!!   I made such a dick of myself, but refused to cry.
As were at the local rugby club, we had some big and burly {well … the President Duanne} helped me to my feet, and ankle was immediately iced.
It was only later that night when I sat thinking about the day, I realised how fortunate I was that it was just a sprained ankle, as I had my Stampin Up! “Paper Snips”- without the cap on, in the pocket of my crafting apron.
I was incredibly lucky that I didn’t land on the scissors and puncture an organ!

Thank you to my Craftin’ Angel for looking out for me {again}!
