“Card Off With Jen” For Thursday 5th February 2015

Finally Jen and I got together for another “Card Off” challenge.
{We} have  to confess that we finished at 2am, and ate a whole packet of “Salt and Vinegar “ chips and a whole bag of chocolate covered honeycomb {similar to bite sized Crunchie Bars} … oh yum!
We attempted to create to a “4 Easel Card”, and I think we did a fab job too!
I was so pleased with how my card turned out, that I will be teaching this card at this weeks “Create With Kathe” craft class.

My “4 Easel Card” is in shades of Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “Petal Potpourri”, “Something To Say” and “Kinda Eclectic”.
This is the first card I have made with my new stamp set “Petal Potpourri” and matching “Flower Medallion” Punch – and I love the combo of this set.

For the sentiment Panel, I added a layer of construction tape, a strip of Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon, along with punched shapes, using the following Punches: Large Oval, Extra Large Oval, Modern Label, Word Window and Banner.

For the 2nd and 4th Panels, on two layers of cardstock {in Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, I stamped the Medallion Flower in Versamark, then heat set it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and featured an elegant “Antique Brad” as the focal point.   I loved this combo so much, that two of the Panels have the Medallion Flower.

On the 3rd Panel, I featured the “Butterflies” Framelits, which is one of my favourite items from the Occasionals Catalogue.   I cut two butterflies {in Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, and added a gorgeous vintage Flower Trim.

Jen’s card is a case via Debbie Henderson over at “Debbie’s Designs”, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “By The Tide” and “Something To Say”.
Jen’s card is a masterpiece, and has tonnes of fussy cutting, and each panel is coloured by hand using Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils, Twinkling H2Os, and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.

I can’t wait for our next “Card Off” challenge, I wonder what our next theme will be?!!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and if you would like to make a Stampin’ Up! purchase online, please head on over  to my Stampin’ Up! website.

Happy craftin’,

Guest Blogger: Jo Collins

My good friend Jo popped around recently with her latest masterpieces to show me.
I was truly impressed with both cards, and asked if I could showcase them.
Jo is fantastic at detail, and these two cards are no exception.

The first card is a case via Amy White from “Whitehouse Stamping” and features the “Secret Garden” stamp set.
Love the colour combo of Pool Party and Calypso Coral, and “Epic Day” Designer Series Paper.
The Embossing Powder in Clear, with the words “live with passion” is very subtle, but stunning.

The second gorgeous card is an Easel Card, and is a case via Debbie Henderson over at “Debbie’s Designs”.
It features the “By The Tide” stamp set, and this card is a BIG “WOW”!!!
From every angle you will notice the gorgeous colouring, glitter, sequins and more …

I have since created my own Easel Card, featuring the new “Petal Potpourri” stamp set, and I will be sharing this at my weekly Class on Thursday so get in quick and reserve your place.

Till then ...
Happy crattin'!

Create With Kathe For Thursday 29th January 2015

This week we made 2 cards, the first a Valentine Card, that could also be used to give to a friend, sister, daughter or Mom, that is packaged cutely in a Vellum Mini Treat Bag, with decorate Swag
The second project featured the “Lotus Blossom” stamp set and “Best Year Ever” Designer Series Paper, both available FREE in the Sale-A-Bration promotion {spend $110 and receive 1 item for FREE from the Sale-A-Bration brochure}.

Project 1 Decorated Mini Treat Bag With Valentine’s Card

What with the Creative Inkers Blog Hop last week, I was super inspired by Debbie Lamb, and the way that she used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die, but cut it in Vellum, so the card inside could be seen through.

For the gorgeous card inside, we used two different stamp sets, as sometimes the words “I freakin’ love you!” {from the “Yippee-Skippee” stamp set} are a tad inappropriate!

Instead I had on-hand the wording “one-of-a-kind card for a one-of-a-kind person” from the "A Dozen Thoughts” stamp set, which some of the ladies felt much more appropriate!
There a lots of details on this card, such as the construction tape, which has been placed over the Crumb Cake cardstock, and then punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, to form the Tag.
Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon and Venetian Crochet Ribbon have been looped through the Tag, and tied with some Linen Thread.
There are also numerous hearts, in Strawberry Slush and “Irresistibly Yours” Specialty Designer Series Paper that has been sponged with Blushing Bride ink, {and cut and embossed at the same time!!!} with the “Fashionable Hearts” Embosslits.
The Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder {from last weeks Weekly Deals} feature on the Blushing Bride layer, and small hearts from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die pack, create a negative detail, and heaps of Rhinestone Basic Jewels have been added.

For the card insert, on the first card, the words “You Make Me Happy” {from the “Hello Love” stamp set} have been stamped in Strawberry Slush, and more hearts added from the “Fashionable Hearts” Embosslits in Strawberry Shush and sponged “Irresistibly Yours” SDSP cardstock.

For the second card, the wording “A birthday wish that’s just for you” is from the “Remembering Your Birthday” stamp set.
The finishing in touch is the negative detail of the hearts, made using the Hearts Border Punch.

The decorated Swag on the Treat Bag, is Strawberry Slush cardstock, that has been backed with Basic Black cardstock.
Negative detail shows the hearts, the faux Washi Tape, and the words “for you”, all being cut with the “Mini Treat Bag” Thinlits Dies.
The clothespin has been covered with Washi Tape from the “Epic Day” Collection.
Wah-lah … “Decorated Mini Treat Bag With Valentine’s Card” done!

Project 2 “Lotus Blossom In Petrol”

What with trawling Pinterest for ideas, I came up with a colour combination for the “Lotus Blossom” called “Petrol” by “born2stamp”,
The “Lotus Blossom” is a 3 step stamp, usually all 3 stamps are in the same colour, with the 3rd stamp being stamped off once onto scrap paper.
However with the “Petrol” colour, the 1st stamp is in Island Indigo, 2nd stamp is in Marina Mist, 3rd stamp is in Soft Sky, all stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.
The Lotus Blossom is then fussy cut.
The cardbase for this card is Lost Lagoon, with a layer of Soft Sky.
The stem is stamped in Mossy Meadow, before adhering the decorated panel.
For the decorated panel, “Best Year Ever” Designer Series Paper has been stamped with the words ”thank you” {also from the “Lotus Blossom” stamp set} and is stamped in Lost Lagoon.
Then a border on both sides of the DSP has been adding in Lost Lagoon cardstock, the first strip having a straight edge, the second strip is punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.
A small bow, made using the new Bow Builder Punch is made with Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky cardstock. As the cardstock is thicker than the usual Designer Series Paper, after punching 2 sets of the Bow out, use your Bone Folder to soften the cardstock.
A sweet little bow made of two lengths of Linen Thread is adhered with a Glue Dot to the stem of the Lotus Blossom.
The finishing touch are the 3 Pearl Basic Jewels, that have been coloured with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities, 2 are placed on the Bow, the 3rd anchors the card on the lower right-hand corner.

For the card insert, another Blossom is stamped, again following the “Petrol” recipe, along with the words “The kindness you show has no end …”, also from the “Lotus Blossom” stamp set.
Negative detail shows through with the dots, made with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die. I chose the dots, as it is a repeat shape from the front of the card - the “Best Year Ever” DSP.
Wah-lah … “Lotus Blossom In Petrol” done!

“Throw Back Thursday” For Thursday, 29th January 2015

On Thursday one of my favourite crafty ladies celebrated her birthday.
For the gorgeous birthday card, I case’ed a card originally designed by Jacque Williams, and matched back the gift wrapping, which also featured the same vintage “Lattice” Bigz Die.

The gift wrap was made from re-purposed Stampin’ Up! Packing Paper, which I embossed with the “Lovely Lace” Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Inside the parcel was an empty Stampin’ Up! Stamp Case, as I knew that I had some retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets that Pam had her eye on, that way she could choose the stamp set that she loved the most, which just happened to be “Language Of Love”!
Half time, we brought out a yummy birthday cake for Pam.
Happy {bleep bleep **th} Birthday Pam!
