“Create With Kathe” for Thursday 19th February 2015

#CreateWithKathe #JorjaRoseFiles

This week we had so much fun making two gorgeous, but very different cards.
The first is a "Pop Out Swing Card", based on the card I made for Valentine’s Day.
The second card we made was a Parisian Shabby Chic Card, showcasing my new MFT “Bicycle” Die ...

Project 1 “Pop Out Swing Card”
Based on my Valentine Card, the ladies were able to choose their own sentiment from the “Crazy About You” stamp set, and matching die cut words from the “Hello You” Thinlits.

“You make me happy”

“Thinking of you”

For all the construction details, please head on over to my original Post, which can be found here

“Crazy about you”

I took on Jill’s advice for this last card and made panel slight longer, so that it sat over the square cut, so it was more obvious to the recipient to pull/swing the card open.   Thanks Jill for your suggestion ...

“Just sayin’ happy birthday”

This last card was made for a little friend turning 5 years old. I added in the swing, as it looks so cute and childish.
Wah-lah …”Pop Out Swing Card” done {again}!

Project 2 “Parisian Shabby Chic Card”

I had so much fun designing this card, which was based on a couple of watches I purchased earlier this week, can’t wait till they arrive!

The card-base is Naturals Ivory, measuring 8” x 5, ½”, folded in half, finished size is 4" x 5, ½”.
The “Post Card” stamp is inked up with Soft Suede, and stamped on to another piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock.
Stamps from the “Artistic Etchings”, “Painted Petals” and “Sheltering Tree” are stamped in Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Strawberry Slush, and Momento Tuxedo Black.
The Post Card is then cut to size using the Stampin’ Trimmer.
Four strands of the Wild Wasabi “Painted Blooms Cotton Twine” are combined with two lengths of Linen Thread, which are twisted together, then wrapped around the “Post Card” panel and adhered.   Combining the same 4+2 recipe, some more Wild Wasabi {PBCT} and Linen Thread are tied in a bow and adhered.
The bicycle is cut in Basic Black cardstock using the MFT “Bicycle” Die, and adhered using 2-Way Glue Pen.
The sentiment “You've got courage, you've got strength.” is from the “Something To Say” stamp set, and is stamped in Soft Suede, and cut using the “Word Bubbles” Framelits.
The cute little heart is also from the “Something To Say” stamp set, and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and punched with the little heart from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack”.
Both of these are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and finally the "Post Card" is also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card-base.
The finishing touch are the small Pearls, from the Pearl Basic Jewels, which are added to the flowers, the heart and 3 little Pearls on the left side of the card.

For the card insert, as the cardstock is Naturals Ivory and quite thick, I was able to stamp/decorate straight onto the cardstock, without needing to add another panel/layer.
Strawberry Slush blooms are stamped from the “Painted Petals” stamp set, with little Pearls added to the centre of each bloom.
The Eiffel Tower {from the "Artistic Etchings" stamp set} is stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black, as it gives a nice clean finish.
Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter is added to the Eiffel Tower with 2-Way Glue Pen.
For the sentiment “You are amazingly amazing” is stamped in Early Espresso onto Vellum.
The sentiment is layered with another piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock that has been stamped with blooms in Strawberry Slush, which peak out from under the Vellum.
Both the Vellum sentiment and the stamped blooms {on Natural Ivory cardstock} are punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and then Venetian Crochet Trim is looped and threaded through, knotted and stapled with the Mini Handheld Stapler. The "Project Life Corner" Punch is used to round the corners of the Tag.
The finishing touch are the three small Pearls that have been coloured with Pink Pirouette Blendabilities.
Wah-lah … ‘Parisian Shabby Chic Card” done!

“Card Of With Jen” For Thursday 19th February 2015

So excited that Jen and I were able to sneak in another “Card Off” Challenge.
This Challenge was for a “Top Note Swing Gift Card Holder” ...

By Kathe Oldham

By Jen Hassloch

To check out my other Gift Card Holder ideas, please click here

For my “Top Note Swing Gift Card Holder”, I chose a card-base of Soft Suede, which I cut two of, with the “Top Note” die.
Next I cut a third “Top Note”, this time in Naturals White, trimming off where the faux stitch line is.
Finally I cut a fourth “Top Note”, but only approx ¼ of the length is needed, as this forms the pocket for the Gift Card. I chose a lovely piece of cardstock from the “All Abloom” Designer Series Paper Stack, and again the faux stitch line was cut off.
For the stamping, I chose the gorgeous “An Open Heart” stamp set.
The sentiment “Love with an open heart.” is stamped in Island Indigo {which matches back with the “All Abloom” Designer Series Paper Stack}.

The branch and bird are stamped with the Momento Ink Pad in Tuxedo Black, as this gives a nice crisp finish.
The branch, berries and bird are all coloured with Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils, and blended with the Aqua Painters.
Small Pearls {from the Pearl Basic Jewels} have been placed on the berries.
The Heart Punch from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack” has been used to create a small “negative detail” heart on the lower right corner, This allows for the “All Abloom” Designer Series Paper Stack to show through.

I have added Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder to the bird, and heat set with the Heat Tool. This gives the bird a glossy effect and another dimension.
To make the card “swing”, an Antique Brad has been fastened along with some Venetian Crochet Trim.
Wah-lah … “Top Note Swing Gift Card Holder” done!

For Jen’s “Top Note Swing Gift Card Holder”, the card base is Crumb Cake, which has been stamped with the “En Francais” stamp in Soft Suede, the two “Top Note’s” have also been sponged with Soft Suede.
Jen has added a gorgeous “Something Borrowed” Embellishment to the centre of the flower, which has been punched with the “Fun Flower” and “Five Petal Flower” Punches,

Some Burlap has been cut down to size, and layered with the sentiment “Hello Sunshine”, which is from the “Crazy About You” stamp set.
Jen has created a window with the “Decorative Label” Punch, and placed some patterned cardstock behind the window.
Jen has used the same patterned cardstock from Kaisercraft for the pocket, which will hold the gift card. The faux stitch line has been fussy cut off of the pocket.

To make the card “swing”, an Antique Brad has been fastened along with some Natural 5/8” Chevron Ribbon.
The finishing touch on the “swing” is the small bow which is made with off cuts from the Burlap.
The peace-de-la-resistance is the small Pearl {from the Pearl Basic Jewels} on the lower right hand corner which anchors the project nicely.
Cool beans … “Top Note Swing Gift Card Holder” done!

AND the verdict … it’s a draw!
