You are now at Blog Hop #14, and may have just come from visiting with Sharon deVos, to check out Narelle Hoggard’s project, back at #1 click here.

For my project, I have deceived on a Chalkboard Easel Card, and features the Sale-A-Bration rewards of “Best Year Ever” Designer Series Paper, and stamp sets “Big Day” and “Simply Wonderful”.

Crumb Cake cardstock, measuring 4”x 11” is scored at 5 ½”, and folded in half. Both sides {one side at a time though!} are stamped with the Hardwood stamp and Versamark, and embossed with the Heat Tool and Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
The “Squares Collection” Framelits are used to cut the lower part of the card, to form the Easel.
The 3”x3” chalkboard is made with the new “Chalkboard Paper” {#137786 $16.95 for 10 sheets}, and embossed with the Heat Tool and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and then coloured with the Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo Blendabilities {selected Blendabilities are also available in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue}.
The Chalkboard it then adhered to the Crumb Cake cardstock with Tape {or your choice of adhesive}.
The Banner/Swag is created using the Banner Punch {#133519 $22.95} and the “Best Year Ever” Designer Series Paper, and is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, Early Espresso Bakers Twine is knotted and adhered with Glue Dots, to hang the Swag from.
On the reverse, a cute little bow is made with the new “Bow Builder” Punch {#137414 $35.95} and more of the “Best Year Ever” Designer Series Paper.
Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim is added for a bit of bling!

For the card insert, Naturals White cardstock {3”x3”}, is framed with Soft Suede cardstock 3 ¼ “x 3 ¼ “, and the “Simply Wonderful” stamp set is coloured with the Early Espresso, Melon Mambo and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

A frame for the sentiment is in Soft Suede cardstock, and cut with the Circles Collection and Deco Labels Collection Framelits and adhered with Tape.
The finishing touch is the Linen Thread which has been knotted and attached the easel, which gives it a realistic effect and functions so as to keep the easel upright.
Wah-lah … Chalkboard Easel Card done!

Happy craftin',
Kathe.

  6. Wow Kathe this is gorgeous! Whoever gets given this card is very lucky, it's had double the decoration with both front and back! You are braver than I am, using a heat tool and embossing powder at this time of year. I have a ban on my heat tool at the moment, it's too hot :-). Love how you coloured the white embossing with your blendabilities. I was thinking of doing that with this set. Just waiting for it to cool down a bit!

  7. Clever idea to use the chalkboard paper to make a blackboard. Perfect with the hardwood stamp. Love the little banner across and the bow too.
