“Create With Kathe” for Thursday 19th February 2015

#CreateWithKathe #JorjaRoseFiles

This week we had so much fun making two gorgeous, but very different cards.
The first is a "Pop Out Swing Card", based on the card I made for Valentine’s Day.
The second card we made was a Parisian Shabby Chic Card, showcasing my new MFT “Bicycle” Die ...

Project 1 “Pop Out Swing Card”
Based on my Valentine Card, the ladies were able to choose their own sentiment from the “Crazy About You” stamp set, and matching die cut words from the “Hello You” Thinlits.

“You make me happy”

“Thinking of you”

For all the construction details, please head on over to my original Post, which can be found here

“Crazy about you”

I took on Jill’s advice for this last card and made panel slight longer, so that it sat over the square cut, so it was more obvious to the recipient to pull/swing the card open.   Thanks Jill for your suggestion ...

“Just sayin’ happy birthday”

This last card was made for a little friend turning 5 years old. I added in the swing, as it looks so cute and childish.
Wah-lah …”Pop Out Swing Card” done {again}!

Project 2 “Parisian Shabby Chic Card”

I had so much fun designing this card, which was based on a couple of watches I purchased earlier this week, can’t wait till they arrive!

The card-base is Naturals Ivory, measuring 8” x 5, ½”, folded in half, finished size is 4" x 5, ½”.
The “Post Card” stamp is inked up with Soft Suede, and stamped on to another piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock.
Stamps from the “Artistic Etchings”, “Painted Petals” and “Sheltering Tree” are stamped in Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Strawberry Slush, and Momento Tuxedo Black.
The Post Card is then cut to size using the Stampin’ Trimmer.
Four strands of the Wild Wasabi “Painted Blooms Cotton Twine” are combined with two lengths of Linen Thread, which are twisted together, then wrapped around the “Post Card” panel and adhered.   Combining the same 4+2 recipe, some more Wild Wasabi {PBCT} and Linen Thread are tied in a bow and adhered.
The bicycle is cut in Basic Black cardstock using the MFT “Bicycle” Die, and adhered using 2-Way Glue Pen.
The sentiment “You've got courage, you've got strength.” is from the “Something To Say” stamp set, and is stamped in Soft Suede, and cut using the “Word Bubbles” Framelits.
The cute little heart is also from the “Something To Say” stamp set, and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and punched with the little heart from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack”.
Both of these are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and finally the "Post Card" is also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card-base.
The finishing touch are the small Pearls, from the Pearl Basic Jewels, which are added to the flowers, the heart and 3 little Pearls on the left side of the card.

For the card insert, as the cardstock is Naturals Ivory and quite thick, I was able to stamp/decorate straight onto the cardstock, without needing to add another panel/layer.
Strawberry Slush blooms are stamped from the “Painted Petals” stamp set, with little Pearls added to the centre of each bloom.
The Eiffel Tower {from the "Artistic Etchings" stamp set} is stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black, as it gives a nice clean finish.
Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter is added to the Eiffel Tower with 2-Way Glue Pen.
For the sentiment “You are amazingly amazing” is stamped in Early Espresso onto Vellum.
The sentiment is layered with another piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock that has been stamped with blooms in Strawberry Slush, which peak out from under the Vellum.
Both the Vellum sentiment and the stamped blooms {on Natural Ivory cardstock} are punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and then Venetian Crochet Trim is looped and threaded through, knotted and stapled with the Mini Handheld Stapler. The "Project Life Corner" Punch is used to round the corners of the Tag.
The finishing touch are the three small Pearls that have been coloured with Pink Pirouette Blendabilities.
Wah-lah … ‘Parisian Shabby Chic Card” done!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday, 12th February 2015

#CreateWithKathe #JorjaRoseFiles

After Thursdays “Card Off” with Jen being such a great success, I decided to teach my crafty ladies the “4 Panel Card” this week.
This was a mammoth project and they did so well!

Project 1 "4 Easel Panel Card"
This version is Strawberry Slush with Blushing Bride, whereas last weeks combo was Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder.
This "4 Easel Panel" card features the stamp sets "Petal Potpourri", "Something To Say" and "Kinda Eclectic".

I first saw this sketch/design by Debbie Henderson over at "Debbie's Designs" as she has also recently made a 4 Easel Panel card, based on measurement by Diane Kirk.
To read my construction details is full, please go to my latest "Card Off” With Jen Blog post, click here

Wah-lah ... "4 Easel Panel Card" done {again!}!

Wah-lah ... "4 Easel Panel Card" done {again!}!

Project 2 Masculine “Big Day” + “Celebrate Today” Card
Our second card was a “Z Fold” card, and featured the “Floral Frames” Collection Framelits, which were in last weeks Weekly Deals, they paired back nicely with the {My Digital Studio} Medallion stamp, which was stamped in Sahara Sand.

The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set “Big Day”, and  is stamped in Early Espresso, and then dipped into the Clear Emboss Power, whilst the ink was still wet, then heat set with the Heat Tool.
Love the combo on the Burlap Ribbon {leftovers from the “Burlap and Blooms” Kit} and the Early Espresso Seam Binding Ribbon.

For the card insert, I choose to do a “ba-bam!” when opening the card, with the gorgeous balloons {from the “Celebrate Today” stamp set and matching “Balloons” Framelits} in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, with an accent of Night Of Navy and Vellum.
The sentiment “Happy Birthday” {from the “Big Day” stamp set} is also stamped in Night Of Navy

The finishing touch is the Pearl Basic Jewel, which has been coloured with the “Skin Tone” Blendabilities, which gives it a nice chocolaty look.
The pairing of Night Of Navy, Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Naturals White gives this card a nice masculine feel.
Wah-lah … Masculine “Big Day” + “Celebrate Today” card done!

“Card Off With Jen” For Thursday 5th February 2015

Finally Jen and I got together for another “Card Off” challenge.
{We} have  to confess that we finished at 2am, and ate a whole packet of “Salt and Vinegar “ chips and a whole bag of chocolate covered honeycomb {similar to bite sized Crunchie Bars} … oh yum!
We attempted to create to a “4 Easel Card”, and I think we did a fab job too!
I was so pleased with how my card turned out, that I will be teaching this card at this weeks “Create With Kathe” craft class.

My “4 Easel Card” is in shades of Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “Petal Potpourri”, “Something To Say” and “Kinda Eclectic”.
This is the first card I have made with my new stamp set “Petal Potpourri” and matching “Flower Medallion” Punch – and I love the combo of this set.

For the sentiment Panel, I added a layer of construction tape, a strip of Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon, along with punched shapes, using the following Punches: Large Oval, Extra Large Oval, Modern Label, Word Window and Banner.

For the 2nd and 4th Panels, on two layers of cardstock {in Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, I stamped the Medallion Flower in Versamark, then heat set it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and featured an elegant “Antique Brad” as the focal point.   I loved this combo so much, that two of the Panels have the Medallion Flower.

On the 3rd Panel, I featured the “Butterflies” Framelits, which is one of my favourite items from the Occasionals Catalogue.   I cut two butterflies {in Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, and added a gorgeous vintage Flower Trim.

Jen’s card is a case via Debbie Henderson over at “Debbie’s Designs”, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “By The Tide” and “Something To Say”.
Jen’s card is a masterpiece, and has tonnes of fussy cutting, and each panel is coloured by hand using Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils, Twinkling H2Os, and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.

I can’t wait for our next “Card Off” challenge, I wonder what our next theme will be?!!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and if you would like to make a Stampin’ Up! purchase online, please head on over  to my Stampin’ Up! website.

Happy craftin’,
Kathe.
