"Create With Kathe" for Thursday 27th November 2014

#CreateWithKathe #JorjaRoseFiles

Well … November is all but a memory as we head into the countdown for Christmas!
This past week, we made a Screen Card featuring the Baby Wipe Technique and the stamp sets “Flower Patch”, “Flower Shop”, and “Remembering Your Birthday”, the second card is a Christmas Card featuring Blendabilities and the “Ornamental Pine” stamp set …

Project 1 “Screen Card”, Featuring Baby Wipe Technique

Basic Gray cardstock forms the base of the card, along with layers of Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack and Whisper White cardstock.

The measurements are:
Base Basic Gray 5 ½”x 10”, scored at 2 ½”, 5”, 7 ½”
Panels Designer Series Paper Stack 4 ¼”x2 1/8”
Panels Whisper White Cardstock 4 ¼”x2 1/8”

The Hearts Border Punch and Decorative Label Punch are used on the top and bottom of the card, then the Panels are adhered.
The Baby Wipe Technique is  in colours of Real Red, Crumb Cake and Coastal Cabana, and are use to create the flowers, which are from the “Flower Patch” stamp set, and stamped on to Whisper White cardstock.

The leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive, onto Pistachio Pudding cardstock.
The matching “Flower Fair” Framelits are used to cut the flowers and leaves.
The Pansy Punch is used to cut 4 flowers in Pool Party, and then crimped x10 times in the Paper Crimper. The fibres of the cardstock are then broken down, so you can split each Pansy into 2, petal by petal {take it slowly!} = 8 Pansys, which are then Braded with a Candy Dot Brad Base, and a Pearl Basic Jewels added.
Repeat the same process for the Petite Petals, there are 5 Petite Petals punched in Pool Party cardstock, then crimped x10 times in the Paper Crimper. The fibres of the cardstock are then broken down, so you can split each Petite Petals into 2, petal by petal {take it slowly!} = 10 Petite Petals,
Each of the “BWT” flowers have 3 layers of Petite Petals added to the centre of the flowers, which are then Braded with either a Mini Brad or a Candy Dot Brad Base, with a Pearl Basic Jewels added to the latter.

The sentiment “there’s something really worth celebrating today…” and “a birthday wish that’s just for you …” are both from the “Remembering Your Birthday” stamp set, and are stamped in Bermuda Bay on to Whisper White cardstock, and then punched with either the 2 ½” Circle Punch and the Modern Label Punch.
The flowers, leaves and sentiments are then adhered to the front Panels.
The final touch is the row of Pearl Basic Jewels added to the front Panel.

The Whisper White Panels are stamped with Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana, and the stamp set “Flower Shop”.
The Panels on the reverse allow for a special sentiment to be written, on the above, each of the people in our household wrote an individual message to our Mom, Mom-In-Law, Grandmom, for her recent birthday.
This card would also be perfect for a girls night out, where each member of the group could write a special birthday message to their friend.

Wah-lah … “Screen Card”, Featuring Baby Wipe Technique done!

Project 2 Christmas Card Featuring “Ornamental Pine”

The “Ornamental Pine” stamp set is the only stamp set used for this card, as I like to demonstrate how one stamp set can be used for an entire project.
The base of this card is Real Red, with layers of Basic Black and Whisper White …

The measurements are:
Base Real Red 5 ½”x 8”, scored at 4”
Layer Real Red 5, 3/8”x 3, 7/8”
Layer Basic Black 5, 3/8”x 3, 7/8”
Insert Whisper White 5, 3/8”x 3, 7/8”
Window Sheet 5, 3/8”x 3, 7/8”

The Basic Black cardstock is stamped with the pine needles and pine cones in Versamark, and White Embossing Powder added, then heat set with the Heat Tool.
They are then coloured with the Blendabilities in Old Olive and Skin Tone Assortment, then Stampin’ Glitter in Dazzling Diamonds is added.
The Real Red layer has a an oval window, which is cut with the Oval Framelits, then sponged with White StazOn to give a snowy effect.
The words “Christmas Wishes” is stamped with Versamark, and White Embossing Powder added, then heat set with the Heat Tool.
The cute embellishment “All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishments” is tied with a Christmasy Bow in Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, and added to the Real Red layer with a Glue Dot.
The Window Sheet is layered between the Basic Black cardstock and the Real Red cardstock, to form the window.
The 3 layers are then added to the base card with Dimensionals.

For the card insert of Whisper White cardstock, a Star {from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack”} is punched in the corner to give negative detail.
The sentiment “May the peace and beauty of the season remain with you throughout the coming year” is stamped in Real Red.
The finishing touch are the two pine cones, stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede.

Wah-lah … Christmas Card featuring “Ornamental Pine” done!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 18th September 2014

#CreateWithKathe #JorjaRoseFiles

Thursday’s “Create with Kathe” Class, we had 2 new ladies attend the evening Class.
As per Bev’s request … we learnt all about “Hexagons”!
I love to share how the Stampin’ Up! products are so versatile, and match back with each other, and the Hexagon family of products are an awesome example ….
There is the “Six-Sided Sampler” stamp set and matching Hexagon Punch, the “Honeycomb” Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the “Hexagon Hive” Thinlits.
Our first project featured the “Oh My Goodies” and “Perfect Pennant” stamp sets + of course heaps of hexagons …
The second project is a case that has been altered, originally made as a Christmas card by Jacque Williams from Stamp Happy, but altered to be a “Floral Patch” birthday card, and features the “Endless Wishes”, “Hardwood”, and “Flower Patch” stamp sets …

Project 1 Hexagons Gone Mad

The card base for this card is Lost Lagoon, which is overlayed with Whisper White cardstock, that has been embossed with the “Honeycomb” Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
The gorgeous “All Abloom” Designer Series Paper Stack has been cut into tiny hexagons, using the “Hexagon Hive” Thinlits – makes life so much easier when these products interchange with each other!
Each card has 3 hexagons which are extra special, as they are from the gorgeous Glimmer Paper, and are in “Dazzling Diamonds”, on the inside of the card, there is also a heart punched with the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack”.
For the Pennant/Banner, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder has been used on Vellum, with the words “Life Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect To Be Wonderful” is from the “Perfect Pennants” stamp set.
The Vellum is laid over Lost Lagoon cardstock and cut using the “Banners” Framelits.
A scrap of Venetian Crochet Trim runs down the length of the Pennant/Banner.
A Very Vintage Designer Buttons is threaded with Linen Thread, and tied with a bow, and placed on the Pennant/Banner.

On the inside of the card, the words “Live Well laugh hard Love Big” {yes the words are in lower and upper case!} are from the “Oh My Goodies” stamp set and are coloured using the Stampin’ Write Markers in Daffodil Delight, Lost Lagoon and Strawberry Slush , and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.
The “Hearts Border” Punch gives negative detail, as the Lost Lagoon cardstock shows through the punched hearts.
A perfect little heart punched from the “Dazzling Diamonds” Glimmer Paper on the bottom right hand corner finished the project nicely
Wah-lah …”Hexagons Gone Mad” card done!

Project 2 Flower Patch case

This second project is a case that has been altered, originally made as a Christmas card by Jacque Williams from Stamp Happy, but altered to be a “Floral Patch” birthday card, and features the “Endless Wishes”, “Hardwood”, and “Flower Patch” stamp sets …
The card base is Crumb Cake, first cut a circle with the “Circles Collection” Framelits, or with a 2 ½” Punch.
Then with the “Hardwood” Background stamp, stamp in Sahara Sand, so that the Hardwood stamp runs half way through the circle.
Stamp along the edge of the “Hardwood” image, in Calypso Coral the word “Greetings” from the “Endless Wishes” stamp set.
Tie Bakers Twine in White, around the edge of the card, threading back into the circle, in three strands, on the lower portion of the card tie a bow, on the upper portion of the card tie a neat and tidy reef knot at the back.
As an anchor, add a Rhinestone Basic Jewel that has been coloured with the Calypso Coral Blendabilities Pens in the darker of the 3 shades, on the bottom right hand corner of the card {to anchor the project}.

For the card insert, line up the Whisper White cardstock {but don’t adhere yet}, through the Circle {or window}, stamp and layer flowers from the “Flower Patch” stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral.
Below the flower, stamp the words “Happy Blooming Birthday” in Calypso Coral, ensuring that the words are not seen through the Circle {or window}.
Add a small heart in Calypso Coral, punched using the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack” to the b0ottom right hand corner of the Insert.
NOW you ca adhere the Insert to the Base!
Wah-lah … “Flower Patch case” done!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 31st July 2014

Thursday was my beautiful daughter JorjaRose’s 11th birthday, in between Classes, we had family time, and as a treat the kids are allowed to choose their own take-a-way dinner, this time JR chose Burger King, and I of course chose #17 “Honey Chicken Noodles” from Noodle Canteen – my fav!
My Mom-In-Law made the B’Day cake, and I decorated it … what do you think?!!!

1 pack of Maltesers and 1 pack of Pink M&Ms and the kids went crazy!!!
We had 7 little girls come for a sleepover Saturday night, so had a house full, what with our 2 + 7 extra!

Now on to craft …
Woop woop ... I made a video this week ...

Our first card made this week is called a “Magic Window Card”, and the structure of the Magic Window is a case via Teri Pocock, click here to view Teri's video Tutorial, however the card design and artistic elements are all my own idea.
The  second card made this week features the “Flower Patch” stamp set, and the layout is a case via Meg Holland and features the Baby Wipe Technique.
Using the baby Wipe Technique makes the petals of the flowers so realistic and multi-tonal in colour - ♥♥♥

Project 1” Magic Window Card

Gatefold Card, finished size is 4”x4”
Measurements For Card Stock:
8"    x 4"     Crumb Cake Base Card
4"    x 2½”  Crumb Cake Middle Section
3"    x 3"     Crumb Cake Window Mechanism Pieces (x 2)
3¾” x 1¾”   Whisper White Side Section (x 2)

Measurements For DSP (Designer Series Paper):
3¾” x 1¾”   Side Section (x 2)
3¾” x 3¾”   Centre Panel
3¾” x 2¼”   Middle Section

DSP used: In Colours Paper Stack – Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush

Score Base Card at 2” and 6”
Fold side pieces in and this will form the your base card with the gatefold
Layer the paper mats on to the sections.
On the Whisper White side sections, mask where the flower is to be stamped.
Stamp the “Dictionary” stamp set over the mask using Black StazOn.
Remove mask and stamp the “Blended Bloom” stamp using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink Pad.
Colour using Blendabilities, Aqua Painters or Watercolour Pencils.

Above Card by Jen Hassloch

Coastal Cabana + Daffodil Delight Blendabilitites

Aqua Painters used with Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush and Melon Mambo Ink Pads + Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilitites,

Adhere to base card side panels.
Stamp the Window Mechanism{s} with the “Flowering Flourishes” stamp set in Crumb Cake.
Flip the pieces over and draw a line in pencil at the half way point at 1 ½”
Measure from the edge 1 1/8” and make a pencil mark.
On the opposite side score down at 1/4”
Cut the cardstock to form the Aperture, cut at the centre line to the pencil mark, cut in from each corner to the pencil mark, to make a Pennant shape.
Do the same with both 3’x3’ Window Mechanism pieces.
Complete the centre section; layer the paper mat on to the cardstock.
Mark the centre point.
Using the “Circles” or “Starburst” Framelits, cut a circle in the centre of the card, ensuring that the circle is completely centred.
On the Base Card, measure ½” down on each side, ready to add the Aperture.
Line the Window Mechanism up 1/8” in from the side.
Apply Tombow Glue to the Aperture lightly put in place, on the edge of the DSP, but do not press down yet, repeat for the other side.
Close the card and check that the lines are horizontal, that the lines are continuous and one side is not high than the other.
If it looks okay, press down with your bone folder and smooth down.
Stamp the word “My Friend" from the “Six-Sided Sampler” stamp set in the centre of the circle of Whisper White cardstock.
Check that the words will fit inside the Aperture.

Use plenty of Tombow Glue {so you get some wiggle time} and adhere to the card. Move around to ensure you can still see the words through the Aperture.
Add the centre section of the card. This fits over the Aperture is and adhered with Tombow Glue.
Before pressing it down make sure that the Diamond or Aperture is central.
When you’re happy, give it a good press.

Wah-lah Magic Window Card” done!

Project 2 “Flower Patch” Card Featuring Baby Wipe Technique

The card-base is Strawberry Slush, with a layer of Crumb Cake which has been embossed with the “Honeycomb” Embossing Folder.
A second piece of Crumb Cake has been layered over Strawberry Slush.
Take a piece of Soft Suede, and punch with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch and layer this between the Acetate {which has been stamped with White StazOn and the words “Be You (tiful)”}, and the above layer.
Place the flowers as prepared below on to this layer, and adhere with Dimensionals and Tape.
Baby Wipe Technique - on a single baby Wipe {I used Pam’s brand}, drop single drops of “Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills” in Calypso Coral, Real Red and Strawberry Slush.
You may need to drop a couple of drops of each colour, until the colours bleed into one another.
Using the big flower from the “Flower Patch” stamp set, use the baby wipe like an ink pad and stamp on the baby wipe, ensure that the whole stamp is covered in ink, then stamp down onto the Whisper White cardstock.
You will need to stamp 3 flowers, and allow to dry.
Keep one flower as the base flower {and cut with the “Flower Fair” Framelits}.
On the 2nd flower cut the first row of petals off of the flower.
On the 3rd flower, cut 2 rows of petals off.
Layer flowers up and secure with an Antique Bard.
The yellow flower is stamped in Daffodil Delight, allow to dry then stamp the centre of the flower with Black StazOn.
For the smallest flower, stamp with Crisp Cantaloupe, then stamp with Calypso Coral to the centre, and add some black crystals for the finishing touch.
The leaves are stamped with Pear Pizzazz as the first layer and Old Olive as the second layer.
Use the “Flower Fair” Framelits to cut the flowers and leaves – the Big Shot makes life so much easier!
For the inside of the card, take a piece of Naturals White cardstock and stamp the words “Happy Blooming Birthday” using the Calypso Coral and Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write Markers.
On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp butterflies from the “Papillion Potpourri” stamp set in Calypso Coral and Strawberry Slush and punch using the Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly Punches.
Layer the butterflies and wrap a piece of Linen Tread around to form the antennae, and adhere with the tape to the inside of the card.
