Guest Blogger: Jen With Card In A Box “Backyard Basics” Style

This hybrid card by Jen Hassloch is so amazeballs that it deserved it's own post!!!

Jen has now completed her hybrid project of a Card In A Box “Backyard Basics” style, and it is now ready to be shown to the World!

Last night, well early this morning {we finished AGAIN at 1.30am!!!); Jen and I had another card off!

Jen got busy stamping her images from the “Backyard Basics” and “Petite Petals” stamp sets in Black StazOn, then using the Blender Pens to add colour from every colour in my Stampin’ Up! Ink Pad stash, we are talking the Brights, Subtles and 2013-2015 In Colours!!!

Jen used the “Petite Petals” Punch and “Backyard Basics” framelits to cut out her gorgeous images.

The beautiful stamp that says “I think you are amazing just wanna let you know” is from the “Lovely Romance” stamp set has been coloured with Stampin’ Makers, and then cut out using the Big Shot and the “Chalk Talk” framelits

The different flaps on the box, which when folded up, closes the box.

On the reverse of the card, there is room to write s secret message or two!

Folded flat, the card fits in a standard C6 envelope. A nifty trick, that only folding the sides down on 2 of the flaps, when the {lucky} recipient opens the envelope, they are surprised by all the colours and dimensions on this gorgeous card…

Card Off With Jen, Card In A Box and Fancy Fold Card

When is comes to craftin', you can never have too much happy!

Last night, well early this morning {we finished at 1.30am!!!); Jen and I had a card off!
Our first project was a “Card In A Box”, with Jen’s creation to be shown as soon as my Stampin’ Up! order arrives.
You see, Jen purchased the “Backyard Basics” Bundle set {shhh shhh – hush hush!!!}, which consists of the Backyard Basics stamp set and matching framelits.
Jen made the box of her card, but wants to use this stamp set to compete it.
On the other hand, my card In a Box is ready to be shown!

Card In A Box by Kathe Oldham

I used the gorgeous “Tea For Two” Designer Series Paper, available on My Digital Studio download, and also in the Clearance Rack at the moment for only NZ$4.69

I also used the gorgeous “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy Punch. “Papillion Potpourri” stamp set and matching Butterfly Punch.

I stamped the 6 butterflies in Black StazOn Ink + used Blender Pens in to colour and blend the beautiful wings of the butterflies in Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Strawberry Slushy.

The sentiment on the back of the card is coloured with “Old Olive” and “Melon Mambo” Stampin’ Markers, and stamped from the “Yippee-Skippee!” stamp set.

I punched the leaves from the Bird Builder Punch, and hand drew the veins of the leaves on with the Old Olive Stampin’ Maker.

Black and White Fancy Fold Card by Jen Hassloch

Whilst I completed my Card In A Box, Jen created this gorgeous card using a hybrid of products.

Jen truly masters the art of thinking outside the box {no pun intended!!!}.

Jen stamped on coloured cardstock with Versamark, and heat-set Black Embossing Powder, and then added a multiple of colours using the Blender Pens, to create dimensionalised flowers that popped from her black and white fancy fold card.

Jen used the gorgeous “Flower Shop” stamp set and matching Pansy Punch, + the “Mixed Bunch” stamp set and the Blossom Punch AND the Chevron Border Punch.

The special sentiment on the inside of the card that says “You can never have too much happy” is from the “Yippee-Skippee!” stamp set, and is coloured with “Old Olive” and “Melon Mambo” Stampin’ Markers.

This gorgeous card is case’d from an idea by Julie Davsion, as shared by Sally at a recent Crafty Wenches get-together.

Card Off With Jen: Noah’s Ark Double Slider Card

Check out these adorable Double Slider Cards that I made with Jen.
The Apprentice has well and truly out-done the Tutor this time!!!

Our theme for this challenge was “Noah’s Ark”, a Double Slider Card AND using the stamp set “Zoo Babies”.

This idea is case’d from a Pin I found on Pinterest by Michelle Last

Our Ark’s took the most time (1 ½ hours) to make, and even then I was not completely happy with mine!

Watch this space though, as I will endeavour to make my Ark a lot better in the coming months, as I gear up to teach this card at my local church craft class “Women Connecting”.

To make the waves/sea I tore my cardstock, whereas Jen freehand cut hers with the Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.

Yet again, although we both had the same theme and materials to work from, and our projects turned out completely different!
