Guest Blogger: Stephanie

I was visiting with my very good friend Stephanie yesterday, and after demonstrating the new Stampin’ Up! “Lotus Blossom” stamp set for her, we moved on to her latest projects.
The cards that Stephanie had to show me were truly stunning, and very intricate.
These are just two of her beautifully hand-made cards ...

A wedding card in Ivory is always exquisite, and Stephanie has such great taste when matching her intricate Dies back with Pearls and other embellishments.

Thanks Stephanie for sharing your art with me.

Valentine Pop Out Swing Card

Happy Valentine’s Day …
Today is Valentine’s Day, and although I did not receive a Valentine, nor had a “Happy Valentine’s Day” from my hubby, I just had to commemorate this “holiday” with a card …

I first saw this sketch/design via Dawn Griffith’s, and yesterday spotted a beautiful version by Julie Davison, so decided to put the “Kathe” touch on my own version.

The card-base is Soft Sky, measuring 5, ½” x 8” and scored at 4”
The Real Red pop out/swing is 3, ½” x 3, ½”, and the Whisper White layer is 3” x 3”
The insert panel is 5” x 6” and scored at 2” and 4” along the 6” side

Score the card-base at 4” and fold.   Cut a square {measuring 3, ½” x 3, ½”} with the “Squares Collection” Framelits which will become the opening for the Pop Out Swing.
Adhere the Whisper White 3” x 3” cardstock to the Real Red cardstock measuring 3, ½” x 3, ½”.
On the 3” x 3” Whisper White cardstock, the gorgeous {and brand new, fresh from the BBB (Big Brown Box) today} stamp set “Sheltering Tree” is stamped in Early Espresso for the tree trunk.
For the blossom, a layer of Blushing Bride is stamped, then a layer of Strawberry Slush, which has been stamped off once {onto scrap paper}, and slightly out of line to give a 2 tone effect.

For the card insert, I also did the same colour way {Blushing Bride and Strawberry Slush} onto a scrap of WW cardstock, before punching out the hearts with the “Sweetheart” Punch and heart from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack”.

The card insert is folded concertina style, and also features a row of hearts, made with the “Hearts Border” Punch.
Back to the 3” x 3” Whisper White cardstock, the grass is stamped in Pear Pizzazz which has also been stamped off once onto scrap paper before being stamped.
The sentiment “Crazy About” is from the “Crazy About You” stamp set, and stamped in Real Red, with the banner ends made with the “Banner” Punch.
The sentiment banner is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The gorgeous word “you” is from the matching “Hello You” Thinlits Dies, and is in Real Red cardstock {and I have to say that I love love love this new Thinlits set … so cute!}.
The “Crazy About You”/”Hello You” Bundle also arrived in the BBB this morning - yipppeee!

Wah-lah … "Valentine Pop Out Swing Card" done!

“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 5th February 2015

WOWsiers we had a late one at this past “Create With Kathe” Craft Class, we finished at 2am!!!
The reason being my bestie Jen was able to come along, and as well as making our two projects, we also made a “4 Easel Card”, which I have decided to teach at this weeks craft class, bookings essential!
We spent the night crafting and eating yummy treats, and before we knew it, we had been crafting for 7 hours non-stop!

This past week {at Class} we made 2 cards, and the feature this week being my new stamp set “Love Is Kindness” which I cut into two stamps.
Both of the cards featured this gorgeous stamp set.
I also used my “Colour Coach” for the first time, which made matching the Tempting Turquoise card stock back with the Soft Sky card stock a breeze

“Irresistibly Yours” Specialty Designer Series Paper has been sponged with Tempting Turquoise ink.
A Soda Pop Top has been mushed in the Big Shot, and a circle of the sponged DSP placed inside, and then Crystal Effects has been added and left overnight to dry.
Close up photos have my second version, which has been spritzed with Glimmer Mist
There are two layers of butterflies, and Soft Sky butterfly has been embossed in Silver with the grid stamp from the “Butterfly Basics” stamp set.
The Tea Lace Doily has been used on both the front and inside of the card,
The sentiment “You are amazingly amazing” is from the “Painted Petals” stamp set.

“Card Off With Jen” For Thursday 5th February 2015

Finally Jen and I got together for another “Card Off” challenge.
{We} have  to confess that we finished at 2am, and ate a whole packet of “Salt and Vinegar “ chips and a whole bag of chocolate covered honeycomb {similar to bite sized Crunchie Bars} … oh yum!
We attempted to create to a “4 Easel Card”, and I think we did a fab job too!
I was so pleased with how my card turned out, that I will be teaching this card at this weeks “Create With Kathe” craft class.

My “4 Easel Card” is in shades of Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “Petal Potpourri”, “Something To Say” and “Kinda Eclectic”.
This is the first card I have made with my new stamp set “Petal Potpourri” and matching “Flower Medallion” Punch – and I love the combo of this set.

For the sentiment Panel, I added a layer of construction tape, a strip of Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon, along with punched shapes, using the following Punches: Large Oval, Extra Large Oval, Modern Label, Word Window and Banner.

For the 2nd and 4th Panels, on two layers of cardstock {in Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, I stamped the Medallion Flower in Versamark, then heat set it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and featured an elegant “Antique Brad” as the focal point.   I loved this combo so much, that two of the Panels have the Medallion Flower.

On the 3rd Panel, I featured the “Butterflies” Framelits, which is one of my favourite items from the Occasionals Catalogue.   I cut two butterflies {in Wonder and Elegant Eggplant}, and added a gorgeous vintage Flower Trim.

Jen’s card is a case via Debbie Henderson over at “Debbie’s Designs”, and features the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets “By The Tide” and “Something To Say”.
Jen’s card is a masterpiece, and has tonnes of fussy cutting, and each panel is coloured by hand using Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils, Twinkling H2Os, and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.

I can’t wait for our next “Card Off” challenge, I wonder what our next theme will be?!!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and if you would like to make a Stampin’ Up! purchase online, please head on over  to my Stampin’ Up! website.

Happy craftin’,
Kathe.
