“Create With Kathe” For Thursday 24th July 2014

Ab-so-toot-ly loved what we made this past Thursday.
I love to teach the ladies new techniques each week, and was squealing with excitement, waiting to show the ladies the “Baby Wipe Technique”.
Our first project was an xtra cute card featuring the “Pictogram Punches” and “Really Good Greetings” stamp sets + the “Stars” Framelits.
The second project featured the gorgeous and very versatile stamp set “Gifts Of Kindness” + “Papillion Potpourri”, the “On Film” Framelits, and … the “Baby Wipe Technique”!

Project 1”Star Shaker Card”

The card-base for this card is Basic Gray, with a layer of So Saffron, and on the inside, the insert is Naturals White.
Fold a piece of A5 Basic Gray cardstock in half.
Cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 5 5/8”x4” for the overlay.
On the Basic Gray overlay cardstock, emboss with White Embossing Powder the words ”You’re A Star” from the “Pictogram Punches” stamp set.

Use the “Stars” Framelits to cut 2 Stars, and use the Star from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack” to cut another 4 stars.
Punch a heap of small stars with the new In Colours Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist from the Designers Series Paper Stack, + 1 star in Champagne Glimmer Paper.
Cut a piece of Acetate and the So Saffron cardstock 5 3/8”x 3 ¾”.

Layer up as follows: So Saffron, heaps of stars, Acetate, Basic Gray + 1 Champagne Glimmery Star on the 2nd largest Star.
Adhere the above to the Basic Gray card-base.
Now for the inside of the card …
On the 5 5/8”x4” Naturals White cardstock, stamp the words “finally a day that really is all about you!” from the “Really Good Greetings” stamp set, using the Stampin’ Write Markers Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon and Tangelo Twist.
Place the punched stars, working from the middle out, i.e. the Tangelo Twist Star first, on either side of the punched Stars, stamp a small Star from the “Pictogram Punches” stamp set in Gold Encore Metallic Ink.
Using the Decorative Masks “Hearts & Stars”, sponge the Stars in Lost Lagoon.
Finally round the corners of the insert, and adhere with tape.

Wah-lah ”Star Shaker Card” done!

Project 2 ”Baby Wipe Technique”

I designed this card in muted tones, keeping in mind that it could be used for a bereavement/sympathy card, or for someone suffering from illness.
The cardbase for this card is Basic Gray, with a layers of Coastal Cabana, Whisper White and Vellum.

{Baby Wipe Technique - Afternoon Class}

Fold a piece of A5 Basic Gray cardstock in half, and emboss the front with the “Fancy Fan” Embossing Folder.
Stamp 2 butterflies from the “Papillon Potpourri” stamps set in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White, and punch with the Elegant Butterfly Punch, also punch 2x Butterflies in Vellum.
Layer the Butterflies, and add 3x Basic Pearl Jewels to each Butterfly.

On the card insert, which is Whisper White, and 5 5/8”x4” in size, stamp the words “Hoping that each passing day brings you closer to a brighter tomorrow” in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White.
Round the corners of the cardstock and adhere to the card base, add a single butterfly to the bottom corner.
Now to the front of the card…

{Baby Wipe Technique - Evening Class}

Stamp the words “Thinking Of You” in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and punch using the “Word Window” Punch.
On a scrap of Coastal Cabana cardstock, punch using the “Modern Label” Punch, and layer with Dimensionals, to the Word Window “Thinking Of You” sentiment, and adhere to the bottom corner of the card with Dimensionals.
Using the “On Film” Framelits, in Coastal Cabana cardstock, cut a Polaroid Frame.
Now to the Baby Wipe Technique …
I came across this technique by Amy White on her Blog "Whitehouse Stamping".
On a single baby Wipe {I used Pam’s brand}, drop single drops of “Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills” in Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, and Real Red.

You may need to drop a couple of drops of each colour, until the colours bleed into one another {as above}.
Using the flower stamp from the “Gifts Of Kindness” stamp set, use the baby wipe like an ink pad and stamp on the baby wipe, ensure that the whole stamp is covered in ink, then stamp down onto the Whisper White cardstock.
Cut the cardstock to fit inside the Polaroid Frame, and adhere to the card.
I made several cards {which I have already given away}, experimenting with straight and diagonal placement of the Polaroid Frame, and adjusted the butterfly to suit.
I love to add a layer of Vellum over my Butterflies, as it softens the effect.
Wah-lah ”Baby Wipe Technique” done!

With the Baby Wipe Technique, no two images will be the same.
For my afternoon class, I did one baby wipe per 3 people, however for the evening class, I accidentally left the baby wipe on the bench, and only remembered a couple of hours later. There was enough ink left on the baby wipe, to do another 12 images, so one baby wipe serviced 15 images!

I simply love this effect, and have another project planned for this weeks Class, which I am really excited about!
